Mind over matter?

Something a bit different today as we head into the full swing of Christmas, today's blog comes from the engagement committee here at ENSEK and they have a message in partnership with our charity of the year...

As well as Energy in the industry, there is the energy that we use up in our daily lives, whether that be physically or mentally. This year ENSEK have decided to support MIND charity for 2019 as mental health doesn’t take time off at Christmas, and with all the added stresses that come with the festive season, it’s extremely important to care of our wellbeing.

MIND are a charity in the UK and they provide advice and support to empower anyone experiencing a mental health problem. They campaign to improve services, raise awareness and promote understanding.

What can we do to better help ourselves?

Energy levels are heavily influenced by our mental health so looking after this will increase our overall happiness, confidence, willpower, focus and productivity in our lives, whether that’s the workplace or at home.

Our mental health is extremely important at all times of the year, not just during the Christmas break, so keeping positive habits are essential to our overall well-being. There are many factors that can negatively affect our energy levels with the below being especially relevant over the Christmas period:

1. Poor sleep

2. Too much alcohol

3. Over-indulging on high sugar foods

Ensuring that we take care of ourselves over the Christmas break will allow us to return to work in the New Year fresh and ready to kick start 2019. Also starting a new routine before the New Year allows your body more time to get used to the new routine.

Below are a list of things you can do over the Christmas period to boost mental energy levels:

1. Think Positively

2. Be Grateful

3. Focus on what you can control, not what you can’t

4. Take responsibility for how you feel

5. Have Fun

6. Go outside!

The way we think has an astounding effect on the way others perceive us and how we perform. When you feel confident, you look confident, and will also perform more effectively, increasing the likelihood of success in whatever you are doing.
